LANDSCAPE OBSERVATORY (ALPES DE LUMIERE)

The association Alpes de Lumiere and the town Volx set up an experimental project about a citizen observatory of biodiversity.

The aim was to sensitize people to the quality of environmental resources of their territory. The experiment was not intended to be a scientific expertise, but to be an educational action aiming at sensitizing people and providing the opportunity to those who wanted to acquire a vocabulary, to acquire knowledge to become savvy actors, to get closer to politicians, to be involved in consultation bodies.

19 WORKSHOPS HAVE BEEN ORGANIZED, WITH MORE THAN 10 PARTICIPANTS IN EACH ONE:

Exchanges and discussions between volunteers and the naturalist.

Observation records of invasive species in the green areas of the city and the surrounding hills.

Restitution of observations and discussions about the challenges to be submitted to politicians.

Several conferences have helped to enrich the shared knowledge that people have of their territory.

Map of synthesis of itineraries and species that need to be protected.
